Dorothy and Tom Cross

Medusae

Jelly fish like forms keep cropping up within my inky formations.

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer

Pulse tank

Interactive installation where the heart rate of the viewer is detected by sensors and converted into water waves in a ripple tank.

Could create a similar piece using sound to affect the water?

Back to film

Playing around with different materials and filming the reactions on the iPad

Could work well on a large projection

Reactive materials on paper

Rather than placing the substances in water I am experimenting with drawing the jars and placing the substances on top, adding minimal water.

Reactive materials

I am looking into the substance that explosively react with water.
Vitamin c tablets, denture tablets, soap suds, ink, dishwasher tablets, fairy liquid, sherbet lemons etc.

Filming the reactions??

More jars

Placing images on tracing paper inside jars and adding inks and water

Back to the jars

After 'playing' with jars of water I thought about drawing the jars on paper and adding the substances to the flat surface seeing how the image would be affected.

Glass sculpture

Inspiration still lacking so have tried to manipulate the photographs of the glass sculptures.
Not very effective, look very static.

Monochrome

Lacking inspiration today so playing around with existing images and Indian ink.

Glass jars. Video

Attempting to make a stop motion animation from still photographs.
Very time consuming and not that effective!!!
Might try shooting videos themselves

Acrylics again!

Moving on

Moving away from recreating imagery of natural water forms I am beginning to experiment with water as a medium.
Playing around with water, inks and glass jars

Acrylic paint

Further experimentation with acrylic paint

Georg Herald

I took a trip to the Saatchi Gallery and came across Georg Herald's sculptures. I plan to experiment with his technique of encasing objects to form my own sculptures.

Acrylic

Playing with acrylic paint in less obvious colours.

Shayna Leib

Glass sculptor who works in recreating water formations and aquatic species.

Glass workshop

I attended a glass workshop in Radford earlier this term. Moulds were created by forming impressions into the sand, using a variety of found objects.

The sculptures themselves were not very impressive so I have focused in enhancing them in photography. I have created the effect of a light box with and old lamp, forming a back light it shows off the bubbles, pigment and ripples.
