The second project brief for my course was entitled 'The individual and the social' the aim was to consider our own Fine Practice within a broader framework (society), whilst developing an awareness of how individual identity develops and is constructed by a range of factors, which transform with time and relate to the external, material world.
I based my project around a Willow Pattern dinner set I received from my Grandmother as a child, a once treasured gift, now representing years of resentment and memories. Before embarking on the project I set out to document the dinner set in multiple ways, photography, drawing, monoprint.
Looking at the idea of tea and British culture in a very literal way by photographing on a Union Jack rug
An afternoon in Otley Chevrin documenting the dinner set.
In response to the works of Andy Goldsworthy and Richard Long.
