Introductory project

The hidden you.

Behind every artist stand the ghosts of others who have influenced them as practitioners.

At every stage in an artist's career there are qualities and attributes that are inspirational to them. Often these things are arrived at through looking and thinking about how other artists have operated and developed their own practices.

You should therefore think of yourself as someone partly as you ate now and someone partly as being shaped by awareness of another person.

In response to this, can you revisit your previous work and think about how these two personalities could create a dialogue? Then:

Find/select an image/piece of work which you think demonstrates particular qualities that reflect your own existing best art practice and set it against a piece that represents the best practice of an artist that inspires you.

What would a joint new piece of work be like?

Find a way to produce this new piece of work and be prepared to talk about it.
